Comments:

Attended Central College in Pella, IA.
Married a Dutch girl named Victoria (Tori) in 1991, who is a wonderful mom and my best friend.
Graduated and attended Concordia Seminary, including Ph.D. studies from 1993-2000.
Lived and taught for a semester in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, near the beautiful Canadian Rockies.
Served as a Lutheran Pastor in rural Storm Lake, Iowa from 2000-2005. Great place, really great people. Wonderful home for our family and children - living 10 miles from any town on an acreage surrounded by corn and bean fields.
Moved to St. Louis in 2005, where I teach the Hebrew language and Old Testament at Concordia Seminary, a school which prepares Lutheran pastors.
Kids all like "city life." Tori and I would just as soon be in the country. But, life is good. If we have to live in a city, we like Saint Louis. The new Cardinals stadium is fantastic.

Six bright, healthy children. We consider them very lovable and endearing, except for the times when they are driving us crazy, which is a lot of the time. I'm glad I never drove my parents crazy.

Our life basically revolves around seminary life, church life, and the unending activities of our kids. We like to get outdoors, hiking, etc. We live next to Forest Park in Saint Louis, with lots of big, beautiful open spaces, fountains, Zoo, Art Museum, History Museum, Science Center, ice rink, playgrounds, golf courses, running and bike paths, outdoor raquetball courts - all in one huge park. Another thing we like to do as a family is to all get comfortable in the living room (around the fire in winter) and read good books together, or some fun poetry.

We spend a lot of time involved with our children's school, a K-12 classical school. If you ever have a chance to look into "classical education" (shaped around the "Trivium" of grammar, logic, and rhetoric) - don't pass it up. We are completely sold.

Not sure what else to say. Wish we could make it to the reunion, but I am in the middle of teaching a 2-week intensive course then, and we have some other things going on, too. We'll be in Muscatine a couple of other times this summer, but not for reunion weekend. So...hopefully the 25th reunion, if I haven't died from my high cholesterol by then - I just can't seem to pass on pizza or good milkshakes.

By the way, I have really enjoyed reading the profiles people have entered. God bless you all.

Last item - I don't know why the picture of me in a pastor's collar below is so large. If it bothers you, try minimizing the window, or possibly back up from your computer a little bit.

My wife Tori with our six children (girl standing on the left is a friend), sledding on the "front hill" at the seminary. We live in a faculty home on the campus, which the kids love.

I took our two boys camping in the Smoky Mountains last summer (Andrew took the picture). Abram loves everything living - bugs, salamanders, fungi, you name it.

The campus of the seminary where I teach. A seminary is a graduate school for men studying to be pastors. Beautiful place. Wonderful privilege. I get paid to study God's Word and discuss it with others - future pastors who will bring the Good News of the love and mercy of God to many others.
